When trying to decorate a little boy’s room we automatically assume that we have to paint the wall and splash footballs and baseballs around the room. Although this is not a bad idea it is not the only one. Why not be creative and think outside of the box to use a trendy design that your son can enjoy playing in with his friends.
Theme
When creating a theme for your son’s room you need to sit down and really think about what they like and don’t like. The most common themes that you can use include; sports, boats, wild animals, space, and airplanes. They might not know what their favorite color is so try to base it around the theme that you know they will love. When creating a wild animals room try to use light tan colors and maybe one dark brown color on one wall.
The colors that you pick to paint on the walls will help to create the theme – but you need to find stencils, wallpaper, and wall décor to bring it all together. When designing a space room you can stencil the solar system on one wall like a mural and place glow in the dark sticker stars on the ceiling. If they love airplanes then create a mural on one wall with the sky, clouds, and an airplane formation.
Furniture
They are still young so they do not need tons of furniture. Try to find them a bed that is fun for them. Multi functional beds can provide them with a bed on the top and a space for a desk or another bed below. Boys love them and they help to save on space.
You will want to invest in a toy box or some type of storage area where they can place all of their toys. Wooden furniture is more ideal to use in a trendy boy’s bedroom. They are sturdy and help to match any type of theme that you choose to use.
Wall Décor
We have already mentions using stencils and murals as a way to decorate the walls. Also try to find posters of their favorite sports team or special pictures of their favorite animals or boats. When boys collect items they are usually something they can play with or use often. Build shelves in a corner of one wall and place their favorite toy planes, hats, or anything else on them. Make sure they are low enough for them to reach.
