Trendy Bedroom Design

Pictures, tips and ideas for designing a trendy bedroom.

What is the one room that your children spend their most time in? For many children this would be their bedroom. It is where they sleep, where them and their friends will build forts, have sleepovers, and play with their favorite toys. It is up to you to make sure that you design a room that your girl will love to wake up and to spend all day playing in.

Bright Colors

When designing a girl’s room you want to choose a theme that you know she will enjoy and work from there. With any theme that you choose you want to compliment it with bright colors. Most girl’s have bubbly personalities and having bright colors will help to bring this out more. When you use dark colors it will make them feel more tired and be more subdued then normal.

On the walls you should have the solid color and on top of this you can add pictures, stencils, and other wall décor. Most parents enjoy to purchase decorative wooden letters that spell out their name. You can purchase them pre-decorated or buy plain wooden letters and paint them yourself. Both are relatively inexpensive to do.

Bedroom Furniture

When choosing furniture for your daughter you need to find three main items; bed, dresser, and toy box. One of the best types of beds that little girl’s love are the daybeds. These sit up against one wall and during the day they are a couch – but at night they are a bed. They can be very wide and long and are perfect for entertaining their friends.

The ideal bedroom set to get for any child are bunk beds. These are very affordable and allow your children to have sleepover without having to force one child onto the floor or blowing up an air mattress for them. You will find that these can last for years and when they are older you can take them apart to create two separate beds.

The dresser and toy box you choose only need to be big enough to store their clothes and toys. Find something that is bright and colorful to match the rest of the room. One color you should stay away from is white. This color will show off every scratch, scuff, and dent. To help save money you can purchase an older dresser or toy box from a garage sale or flea market, sand it down, and paint it.

Accessories

To finish off the room you need to find curtains and other items that you can place around the room to help it to look less plain. Replace those mini blinds with colorful pink, purple, green, or white sheer curtains. Blinds are a bad idea in any children’s room because they are hard to keep clean and can be easily broken.

During the daytime the sheer curtains will help the sunlight to stream inside of their room and to make it look more open. At night you can use thicker curtains that are pulled back during the day and can be closed at night to provide them with privacy. These top curtains should be slightly darker to help contrast with the sheer curtains and make the window stand out more.

Add family pictures and collectibles around the room. This helps to add more warmth to the room and to make it truly come alive. Any collectibles can be placed on a special shelf on the wall where they cannot reach them.
